1996 Sheldon Family Association
Annual Meeting and Reunion

The Sheldon Family Association Annual Meeting and Reunion was held July 18-20, 1996 in Brunswick, Maine. Our meeting host was Dr. Frank W. Sheldon M.D. Highlights of the meeting included the business meeting on Friday, July 19 with committee reports, research update, bylaws update and election of officers. In the afternoon Rose Sheldon Newton and Mayleta Sheldon Duncan, dressed in costumes of the period, portrayed Godfrey Sheldon and Alice (Frost) Sheldon signing for a piece of land in the Maine Plantations. The skit was narrated by Rosemary Hogan. After dinner, Douglas W. Cruger, a professional genealogical researcher, spoke on the subject "Where to look for Maine Records in 1996".

The following morning we boarded busses for a trip to the Godfrey homestead, sightseeing at the Maine Maritime Museum and the a tour of the sailing ship "Gazela".  After dinner, T.H. Roderick, Ph.D., spoke of his work on Mitochondrial DNA, a tool for Genealogists and Geneticists.
