Thomas Sheldon
I have been looking for the parents & ancestors of Thomas Sheldon (1789-1871) NJ>OH>IA, my great-great-great grandfather, to try to link him with the main Sheldon lines. His first wife was Huldah Tharp (1790-1853), and his second wife was Rebecca Richardson Lohr. He served with the Ohio militia in the War of 1812. He lived mainly in Coshocton Co. in OH. I am descended from his son William (1815-1902), who remained in OH while most of the family had moved to Hardin Co., IA by the 1860s. I would appreciate any information. Milton
Milton Sheldon (b aby 1803,probably Dutchess Co., NY) and wife Harriett lived in Rensselaerville, Albany Co., NY by 1850 and were still there in 1870. They had 10 children. Known children were Charles (m Nancy); Louisa (m Lewis Rifenburgh); Jane, Marietta, Eliza, George W. Charles had daughters named Loretta and Elizabeth. Louisa had Rosillia, Frances and George - all surnamed Rifenburgh. There were also 3 grandchildren who were surnamed Lee: Harriett, Orville and Frank. Rosillia Rifenburgh married Leslie Otis Booher and lived in Florida. Frances married Robert McDowell and was living in Worden, IL in the 1930's. Harriett Lee married Henry Rifenburgh who was probably a brother of Lewis Rifenburgh. Please see my previous query, dated 17 May 1998 for further details about Milton and his family.

I am looking for any info on my great-grandfather. He was married to Mary Irving (we think) and lived in Percival, Fremont Co. Iowa. They had one daughter, Sadie, who was married to Ival Keyser. Sadie and Ival had a daughter, Ida. Sadie died young, when Ida was 2 years old; approx. 1902. Thank you.

He was supposedly to join the priesthood somewhere in Scotland, but instead, he ran off to the USA. He met Jane Ann BRADLEY (b. 1852 in Canada, parents were William & Ann BRADLEY) in Watertown, NY. I'd like information about the ancestors of Gene Sheldon (1908-1982), the actor who played Bernardo on the 1950s TV program Zorro. He also appeared in several movies and on radio. I know that his parents were Ada & Earl Sheldon and that he was born in central Ohio. John Sheldon
We belive that John Sheldon is from my mother's side of the family is Smith. There is a book written on him by Helen White Brown in 1964 in Maryland called: Some Descendants of John Sheldon of Rhode Island. My family used to hve a copy of this book, but have miss placed it over the years. We would love to have another copy of that book along with any other information avaliable. Also, at the moment I am doing a research project on Rhode Island were John Sheldon is sopposed to have gone to when he came to America from England. Thank You very much!

Sheldon who was a doctor in New York City and died January, 1890 and a sister who was married to Mr. Harry Darling of Worcester, NY. Can find 3 brothers, Asa, Lionel and Allen Sheldon (sons of William Sheldon & Abigail Udell) who were in Worcester or East Worcester at some point. Assume one is her father. Asa is buried in same cemetery as Orilla. Does anyone know if Asa is Orilla's father? (Another Orilla,b. 1820, d. 1822) Orilla Ann is daughter of yet another brother, William.)

Henry Lawrence Sheldon
Born about 1824, Salem Massachusetts. Came to the Hawaiian Islands as a journalist,(about 1843)fell in love with Hannah Ho'olaikahiluonalani Munn of Hawaiian/German ancestry and of royal heritage. Had eight children. My great grandfather, John Graves Kahikina Munn Sheldon, being the oldest. Henry wrote many articles about the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom, renounced his American citizenship and spent two years in prison for treason, as was Queen Liliuokalani, who was later was pardoned and spent only nine months imprisoned on the top floor of the Royal Palace. I am writing a book for my family and want to know more about ancestral grandfather Henry Sheldon. Any information shall be greatly appreciated.

John Sheldon m Joan Vincent (or Joanna V)
I have a genealogy handed down through the family and I am not convinced that it is correct. It states that Joan Vincent (b 1632) m John Sheldon (b 1629) and had son John Sheldon who m Deliverance Palmer. This doesn't jibe with what you have on your website. Then we have John (b 1658) who m Deliverance Palmer having son Issac (b 1686 R.I.) who m Susannah Potter. I know we need clarification here and I would be so grateful if someone could set me straight. Thanks.

I am searching for Francis Sheldon, shipwright, who arrived to Sweden in the spring 1659 at the request of king Charles X Gustaf. Francis Sheldon and his partners Day and Turner built several great ships in Sweden, among them, Cronan, Nyckeln and Svardet. Sheldon returned to England, but after some year he come back and built several other ships. Sheldon was a partner to Phineas Pett, who built The Sovereign of The Seas. My ancestor Ruth Sheldon is a dead end on my family tree. All I know about her is that she died ca. 1830, and that she married Timothy Eastman who was born 9 Sep 1739 and died 19 Aug 1818. Their daughter, Grace Eastman, married my great-great grandfather Aaron Breck. Surely Ruth's lineage goes back to the original Sheldons in New England. I would be very grateful for the facts! Diodorus
Diodorus Sheldon was born in Hamburg, NY (Erie County)on 12/10/1814. His father was also Diodorus who served in the war of 1812 and died at the close of the war. Diordorus (b. 12/10/1814)spent 6 years living with an uncle in Auburn, NY. In April 1837 he came to Calhoun County, MI. He went to Detroit, MI until 1840. He was in charge of the tannery of English and Walker in Port Huron, MI until it burned in 1842. In 1842 he superintended a tannery 2 miles north of St. Clair, MI until 1846. He married Grace Abernethy in 1843 and had 4 children. His son Charles Sheldon was my gggrandfather.

Harriet Sheldon (born about 1775)is said to be the mother of my gr. gr. grandmother, Harriet Townsend Wells (1798-1870). Harriet T. Wells m. Samuel Wescott Trumbull probably in New York State about 1826. Harriet Sheldon m. __unknown___ Wells date and place unknown. According to an existing family letter, Harriet Sheldon's Wells husband died on 23 June 1830, place unknown. These Sheldon and Wells persons are believed to be connected to Deerfield and Brattleboro families of the same names, but details and proofs are lacking. Please help!

Just an up date on an earlier posting. We now believe that Zebulon was the son of John (6) Samuel (5) John (4), John(3), John (2) and William the first generation. She was the daughter of Moses Sheldon and Elizabeth Grave. According to info I got from the SFA many years ago her lineage was Sarah/Moses/Ebenezer/Isaac/Isaac. Backing up from there I think that Isaac was the son of Ralph Sheldon born abt. 1605, son of Arthur born abt 1575, son of Roger Sheldon,born abt 1550. Am I on the right track? Sarah (Sally) Sheldon married Solomon Spafford and they settled in Prince Edward Co. Ontario and were my immigrant Spaffords to Canada.

Benjamin Thomas Sheldon b. May 6, 1794 in Kinderhook, NY. Married Sarah Powell, Mary Stringham and Ruth Booth Powell. I am sure that Jonathan Powell Sheldon was the son of Ben and Sarah Powell. John Charles Sheldon of Baltimore, MD
John Charles Sheldon was my great-grandfather, he married Margaret Anne Dixon sometime in the 1880's, they had a son William Henry Sheldon born April 25, 1888. I am having a problem finding any information out about this particular family. I have heard stories when I was young about how John Charles' family disowned him when he married Margaret and another story that upon his death, John Charles' family disassociated with his widow and her child. Of course this is all family folklore, but that doesn't help. There has to be family, or else John Charles would not have been born. I don't know where he came from or where he was born. I did find a John Charles who died in 1883 in Baltimore, this particular fellow was born in England. Can anyone help me?

My Father, James Andrew Jacobs b. 1/21/27 in E. Stroudsburgh, PA was adopted by his biological great aunt, Elsie Sophie Jacobs(nee)Kroeger(married Name).My father's birth cert. lists his biological mother as Alice Mabel Sheldon. My father and I had visited her in Stroudsburgh when I was a child. She would not tell us anything about our ancestry. Now that my father has been deceased for nearly 10 years, I am on a search for my heritage. I am stuck at this point on my fathers' mother's side. Can you help me please? Elsie Mariam Sheldon
Have learned more about my Elsie. Her middle name was Mariam. She married Leander Turner whom she met in Ann Arbor,Michigan, when he was attending law school. She was connected in some way to a Charles Sheldon, of Ishpeming, Michigan. Other surnames in her ancestry were EATON, JOHNSON, and LeROY. Her ancestors fought in the Civil War and in the Revolutionary War. Some of her Sheldon ancestors were from Vermont. Any chords striking anywhere?

Harris

John Sheldon was born 1658 in Providence, Rhode Island. In the 1700's he was married to Joan Vincent. Joan Vincent is the daughter of John Vincent & Frigswith Carpenter.
