Godfrey's daughter Sarah is presumed living in 1646 when she was named in her aunt Ellen Goodale's will. We have no further record of her.
"I bequeath unto Godfrey Sheldons eight children now living "euerie" one of them 20 shillings. Then I give unto Sarah Sheldon, one of the aforesaid eight, my Bible." From: Will of Ellen (Frost) Goodale of the village of Sheldon. Will written 29 June 1646 and probated 17 July 1646 in Bakewell.
That Godfrey Sheldon was b. c. 1599 is calculated from the age given in his will. That he lived in Bakewell Parish, co. Derbyshire, England, is without question. This is the same county parish where J. Gardner Bartlett researched and found S-5 Isaac Sheldon of Windsor, Connecticutt, and Northampton, Massachusetts. Achievements of Northgate, Canterbury, Kent, in 1986, extracted pre-1660 marriage records for the Christian names John, William, Godfrey and Geoffrey (a more modern, softer form of Godfrey), and for Isaac Sheldon. The Christian name, Godfrey, occurred only once during their extensive search, and that was in the registration of Godfrey's marriage to Alice Frost in All Saint's Church, Bakewell on 11 March 1620, this being confirmation of the same record we have from Noyes, Libby & Davis' Genealogical Dictionary of Maine & New Hampshire. Further search in this county might yield the names of his parents and might reveal of which co. Derby town Godfrey Sheldon was a native.
